Today, our story continues to evolve from the foothills of the Sierra Nevada mountains.
But the genesis of Cirino’s Bloody Mary Mix began in another era… and another world.
generations in the making
How it Started
Growing up in an Italian family with 12 brothers and sisters, my great-grandmother and mother cooked day and night. And while I was a restless boy, I always found joy and a sense of peace in their kitchen.
Day after day, I soaked in their old-world cooking traditions and our time-honored family recipes like a sponge. Those traditions and recipes marinated for years as I traveled the country and the world…
Started a successful lumber mill…And built houses in the shadow of the Sierras.
Then one day I realized how much I missed the joy and peace of my family’s kitchen. So, in 1983 I opened a small restaurant.
Cirino’s Bar & Grill let me share these lessons – and joy – with my Nevada City neighbors. And our family’s cooking traditions and recipes wowed local patrons. Dishes blended old-school traditions with fresh ideas and new-world ingredients.
But it was the bar that stole the show.
Driven by Demand
You see, I had taken the Cirino’s family high standards – along with fresh ingredients from local growers and a chef’s flair for flavors – and created a hand-crafted, concentrated Bloody Mary mix. It let us serve Bloody Marys that were more like culinary cocktails.
The Cirino’s Bloody Mary reputation began to spread – from the Sierra foothills to San Francisco and beyond. Out-of-town visitors began stopping by not only for a meal, but for a Cirino’s Bloody Mary.
Soon, customer growth forced us to relocate the original bar & grill. And our customers increasingly wanted to share a Cirino’s Bloody Mary with their families and friends back home.
We Continue Today
So, I caved to customer demand and began selling Cirino’s Bloody Mary Mix from behind the bar… with hand-written, masking tape labels.
Although the label has changed, today we still make Cirino’s Bloody Mary Mix the way we always have – by hand, using our family recipe and the freshest, local ingredients.
And our family still manages every step of the process – from purchasing the ingredients to shipping the finished product right to your door.
Because our name’s still on the label… and our family reputation along with it.
